Best 5 Festivals & Events in Kanagawa, July 2018 (w/Photos)
Kanagawa Prefecture is located next to Tokyo. Yokohama City is particularly a popular destination among foreigners for having Minato Mirai and the Yamate District. 1. Kiteretsu Daihyakka × Doraemon –Inventions of the Edo Period and Secret Gadgets of the Future – January 25, 2018 (Thur) - January 15, 2019

The animation created by the famous cartoonist Fujiko F Fujio who is recognized worldwide was made into an exhibition. Doraemon and Korosuke introduce convenient items. It is held at the Exhibition Room Ⅱ in Fujiko F Fujio Museum. During this exhibition, the restaurant also offers special menus related to Doraemon and Korosuke. Dorakoro hamburger plate consists of a hamburger with a Doraemon shaped cheese on top and lovely Korosuke shaped ketchup rice. Their original clear plastic folders are also popular. Doraemon was sent from the 22nd century to the modern era, Korosuke has come to modern times from the 19th century. This comparison is interesting too.

2. Gekidan Shiki Musical “The Bells of Notre Dame” Yokohama Performance – April 8, 2018 (Sun) – August 28 (Tue)

Gekidan Shiki is a theater company that has huge fans across Japan. There is a good reputation for their worldview and the high quality musicals. The musical performances of Gekidan Shiki are held at Kaat Kanagawa Arts Theater. In 2018 there is a Kanagawa performance for a limited time from April 8th to August 28th. “The bells of Notre Dame” is 2 hours 35 minutes show, starting with the opening scene of the Paris cathedral but it has a reputation that the time seems to pass very quickly until the ending. Kaat is a popular theater in Yokohama for playing some high quality musicals, theaters and concerts. In the neighborhoods there are popular spots for tourists such as Yokohama Chinatown and Yamashita Park.

Harbor View Park (Minato-no-Mieru Oka Koen) is a popular park for offering a full view of Yokohama port and Minatomirai region. The park features a beautiful rose garden too. At Port Hill Yokohama in the park, there is another popular spot. It is the beer garden that opens every year, where you can enjoy the view of the port. The barbecue course including 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink is the most popular menu. It is also allowed to bring your own food for the barbecue. In addition, KKR Port Hill Yokohama has accommodation facilities, so you can fully enjoy your stay. 4. The Little Prince Museum “Rose Fair 2018” – May 26, 2018 (Sat) – July 8 (Sun)

The Little Prince Museum is located in Hakone, which is a hot spring spot representing Japan. From June to July, you can see mainly red roses blooming, which is said to be the Little Prince’s favorite. During this period, the Little Prince Museum holds its Rose Fair 2018. In addition to enjoy the beautiful roses displayed in the museum, you will have an opportunity to see the work of their garden designer. There are also special desserts limited to rose fair and 20 dishes per day. The “selfish rose plate," which is a special rose dessert plate served with rose berry tart topped with rose sauce, milk pudding, vanilla and cassis sherbet is also popular.

5. Yugawara Onsen Maritime Fireworks Festival– July 16, 2018 (Mon, public holiday)

At Yugawara fireworks festival, fireworks are launched from far out at sea.
You can see the Fireworks “Star Mine” launched from off the shore. At Yugawara fireworks festival, about 6,000 fireworks are launched. Although the launch scale is not the largest, the fireworks are impressive enough. Many people see the fireworks on Yugawara Beach or from the terrace of the hot spring hotel. Yugawara Onsen is known as a hot spring sightseeing spot close to Tokyo. It is a popular hot spring resort for being accessible from Tokyo and its abundant water flow. As you can find hot springs with clear and colorless water, it might make easier for foreigners to enter the water. There are many renowned Japanese traditional style accommodation facilities, allowing visitors to enjoy Japanese tradition as well.
