In 1995, this yearly festival started as “1st Retro night in summer” and the theme was “Sapporo Beer, Don’t run away!” This event will be held for the 24th time this year. Since last year, title of the event has changed. The content also more like a beer garden, so that it became an event that more people can enjoy. You can enjoy draft beer from Czech Republic that first appeared in Kitakyushu, Belgian beer, Japanese craft beer, sake breweries from Yamaguchi prefecture. You also can enjoy delicious dishes such as sea food, meat from Moji. During three days of this event, you can also enjoy various stages. Flamenco, DJ, traditional music of Ecuador in South America or bicycle performance. Have fun events with beer and food!

Oita Prefectural Art Museum is a museum located in Oita city their concepts are
through various perspectives & senses, visitors can enjoy with five senses and be able to receive new discoveries and stimuli through exhibitions organized on the theme of Oita and the world, classics and contemporary art, music and more. They have many collection of bamboo crafts, Nanga (Japanese painting) based on climate or the works of local artists. 3. Hita Gion festival

Hita Gion festival is a Hita's summer traditional event lasting about 300 years. This festival is held in Mameda area, Kuma/Takeda area of Hita city. Along with the sound of Gion music accompaniment, gorgeous festival cars go around the areas. This festival is familiar to local people as an event to exhale plague and damage from wind / flood and pray for relief. In 2016, this festival was registered as one of the 33 Yama, Hoko and Yatai float festivals ,UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. There is a “Hita Gion Yamaboko kaikan” in Hita-shi, Kuma. You can see as a permanent exhibition six Gion Yamaboko (festival cars) from Kuma/Takeda area, decoration of the festival or festival materials. Besides there are also books / antiques which you can learn about history of Kuma-machi and hina dolls or warrior dolls that have been passed down from generation to generation in a wealthy merchant. When you visit here, it will be more fun to see the festival.

Nyoirinji Temple, known as “Kaerudera (Frog Temple)”. Chief priest has been brought a frog made of jade from China. That was the beginning and now there are about 5,000 frogs. It is said that frog is modest, always jumping forward and achieving the purpose.
So that in China, it was regarded as a messenger of the hermit. At this temple, the summer festival to be held every year on July 17. Many kinds of events such as acting, dancing and drumming are held to excite the festival. Near this temple, there is a Shiroyama Park. This park is located at the foot of Hanatateyama Mountain. When the season comes, 400 azaleas are in full bloom and show a splendid scenery. Every year many tourists visit here to enjoy watching waterfowl playing on the waterside and nice season.

5.Aratate jinja shrine summer festival

Aratate jinja shrine is located Mitai, Takachiho-cho, Nishiusukigun, Miyazaki. The gods Sarutahiko-no-kami and Ame-no-Uzume-no-mikoto that are written on Japanese mythology are enshrined. It is said that there are benefits such as couple dissatisfaction and marriage. There is a “Shichifukutokujyu-bangi” in the shrine ground. They say that a wish will come true if you strike this “ Bangi (wooden board) “seven times strongly. There are also other “bangi (wooden boards)” such as “Mirai-bangi” and more other places in the ground of Aratate shrine. While walking around the precincts, hit bangi seven times at Iyashi-no-yashiro, Deai-no-yashiro, Kizuna-no-yashiro. You’ll be happy.
Aratate jinja shrine summer festival is held at this shrine. The ceremony begins at 10:00A.M. This shrine will be crowded throughout the day such as Kagura (Shinto theatrical dance) dedication, children’s mikoshi(portable shrine). Let’s visit and get benefit of happiness!

6. Omuta Daijayama Festival

Traditional event Daiiayama Festival in Omuta is held every year. This year will be 57th. Begin with Minato festival, then Taishocho festival open space events and ends with fireworks. Let’s enjoy bustling and funny festival. There are also many sightseeing spots in Omuta. Miike coal mine Miyanohara pit is one of the cultural properties, “Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution: Iron and Steel, Shipbuilding and Coal Mining”. It located from the nearest bus stop “Hayagane meganebashi” 10-minute walk. We also recommend you to visit Omuta city zoo. It is the only zoo in the Chikugo district that keeps their animals in a green more open environment. There is a popular white tiger which you can see rare in Japan. Let’s enjoy festival and other sightseeing spots.

7. Hakata Gion Yamakasa

Kushida-jinja shrine is an old shrine called Hakata's general guardian. Annual events such as Hakata Dontaku, Hakata Gion Yamakasa, Hakata okunchi are held mainly at this shrine. Hakata Gion Yamakasa is a large festival at Kushida-jinja shrine with a history of more than 770 years. This festival begins with events Kazari Yamakasa (the floats) and Kaki Yamakasa decorate various places in Fukuoka City and praying for no accident. The highlights are ”Oiyama narashi (practice runs)” , “Shūdan yamamise”. At the “Shūdan yamamise”, Yamakasa enter the center of Fukuoka city away from Hakata district. On the last day of this festival is “Oiyamakasa” The men in Shimekomi (the traditional Japanese festival clothing) carry Yamakasa, run through the city of Hakata, this part is the climax of the festival. In 2016, this festival was registered as one of the 33 Yama, Hoko and Yatai float festivals, UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Let’s watch the traditional festival.
