Discover Yokohama's Must-Attend Events in 2025: Festivals, Concerts, and Sports Spectacles
Since moving to a neighborhood adjacent to Shinjuku in 2024, I've been visiting cities around Yokohama almost daily to explore its appeal and discover spots I can recommend to tourists. I published this article in 2025 to incorporate my findings from this research, along with the latest information for 2025.
Another reason for updating the article is the growing interest in tours that allow visitors to safely and deeply experience Tokyo Area. Because Tokyo (and Yokohama) are a city that continues to develop at a dizzying pace and in complex ways, tourists visiting for the first time find it extremely difficult to discover the truly excellent spots beloved by locals.
This is why food tours led by knowledgeable local guides who know Tokyo inside and out have been gaining popularity, as they take visitors through Tokyo's maze of establishments.
In fact, Magical Trip's tour, which ranked #1 among all tours on Tripadvisor, has been receiving numerous applications.
Join a Magical Trip local tour to be guided by Tokyo experts to beloved restaurants serving exceptional food. They'll take you to hidden gems that are difficult for first-time visitors to Japan to discover, ensuring your trip becomes an unforgettable memory.
My recommended tour is the Tokyo Bar Hopping Night Tour in Shinjuku, which was ranked #1 on Tripadvisor among all tours in 2024.
If you're planning to visit Yokohama, please consider participating in these tours as well.
・Finest Quality Sushi & Tempura Dining Experience in Ginza
・Asakusa Cultural Walk & Matcha Making Tour
We hope you'll have a wonderful time experiencing everything Tokyo has to offer by joining a Magical Trip tour!

There are two chances to see this in July, so be sure to check it out if you plan to visit Yokohama city on these dates.
Yokohama city is selected as one of "Japan's New Top 3 Night View Cities." The night view around Minato Mirai is particularly beautiful and is one of my favorite sceneries. It's also a recommended spot for dates at night, so be sure to enjoy the night view when you visit!

Taiwan Festival at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse
Source:FASHION PRESS
Every year from July to August, the "Taiwan Festival" is held in Yokohama city. It's an event where you can enjoy Taiwanese traditional cuisine and cultural performances on stage. As someone who loves Taiwan foods, this is one of the Yokohama Events 2025 that I look forward to annually.
Among Taiwan foods, what I recommend as a Taiwan foods enthusiast is a dish similar to fried chicken called "Da ji pai," which is a Big chicken dumpling about the size of your face. Since the spice blend creates originality in this dish, you can enjoy various flavors depending on the vendor. The Taiwan style shaved ice "Chhoah-peng," which generously uses fruits, is also perfect for the hot summer!

Notable Events in Yokohama for November 2025
Yokohama Milight

In Japan, you can enjoy illuminations in various places starting in November. Yokohama also holds illumination events for about three months from November to February every year, enhancing Yokohama city's nightlife.
The illumination area extends over a 1.5km stretch from Yokohama station to Minatomirai, with the entire city bathed in fantastical lights of silver, pink, and gold, creating a romantic atmosphere.
My recommended viewing spot is Grand Mall Park. You can relax in the spacious grassy plaza while enjoying the vivid illuminations decorated on the street trees. On weekends, you can also enjoy food from food trucks.

Chinese New Year Illumination
Source:Official website
Every year from November, Yokohama Chinatown hosts magnificent illuminations in preparation for the Chinese New Year period known as "Shunsetsu." Walking through the streets of Chinatown, you'll find decorative Chinese lanterns everywhere, creating a festive atmosphere.
On the main street, you can enjoy the view of a large dragon made of lanterns, creating a scene as if the dragon is flying through the sky. In Chinese culture, dragons are considered very auspicious beings, believed to bring wealth and happiness. When you find it, be sure to capture it in a photo.
During this period, colorful giant lanterns, which are traditional Chinese crafts, are displayed throughout Chinatown. Just walking through Chinatown allows you to enjoy exotic and vibrant scenery. The Yokohama Events 2025 calendar features this illumination as one of the must-see attractions for tourists visiting during the winter season.

National Hometown Fair 2025
Source:Official website
The "National Hometown Fair" is an event where you can enjoy local foods from all over Japan. This year marks the 19th time it's being held, and it's a food event I look forward to every year.
Local foods that you can't eat without traveling from the northernmost "Hokkaido" to the southernmost "Okinawa" are gathered here, making it an event I highly recommend for those interested in Japanese food culture.
Among them, my recommendation is the Seafood Bowl from "Hokkaido," with rice topped with salmon and salmon roe called "Ikura." Seafood from Hokkaido, which is raised in cold regions, is fresh, tasty, and popular in Japan.
The event also sells local sake and sours made with regional fruits, so enjoy pairing local food with alcohol. Many visitors to Yokohama Events 2025 specifically plan their trips around this fair to experience the diversity of Japanese cuisine in one location.
