The main line of Fukui bus is「Keifuku Bus」that spread in 5 directions from Fukui station. In addition to「Keihuku Bus」line,「Smile Bus」,「Regional Bus」,「Friendly Bus」, Shinpo・Owada Round Bus「Aozorakun」are available in Fukui city. There is a lack of bus line in other area of Fukui station but there are also some sightseeing spots like Eihei temple and Ichijodani Asakura Remains that we can get by walk from the station. Fukui station is the starting point for Keifuku bus line to 5 directions to get each popular sightseeing spots. For example, Eihei temple in the northeast direction, Maruoka castle in north direction, Takasu Beach in northwest direction, Naminoha Onsen in southwest direction, Ichijodani Asakura remains in southeast direction is popular spots. The bus basically departs and arrives from Fukui station, so it is quite convenient for the tourist.

Smile bus convenient bus in Fukui city that has 4 routes in east, west, south, north all direction. In north route, you can get these main place like Fukui City Hall and Prefectural Art Museum, Gokoku Shrine. In west route, you can get some shopping streets like station shopping street, Katamachi shopping street and could feel good-old atmosphere. You might not much opportunity to use south and east route because these 2 route bus doesn’t stop any sightseeing spots. But these route also make you feel the atmosphere of Fukui city. It is good for the tourist to check the north and west route to have a good trip.

Regional Bus is belong to Fukui city. Fukui city renewed the old bus that used to be a school bus and use it for this Regional Bus. The most attractive point is this low price. It’s only 100 yen per 1 ride. This bus has mainly 3 routes, Bisan Route where many schools are located, Coast Route that you can do sightseeing around the coast area, Kiyomizu Route where you can see the relaxing scenery like farm. This bus is often used by local people. Though this bus doesn’t go to the famous sightseeing spots, but you can see the local life itself on this community-based route.

Friendly Bus

Given the fact that Fukui Prefectural Library has been moved from downtown to suburb, Fukui prefecture has started operating the free bus due to the estimation of decrease of library user. It is about 15 min way from Fukui station to library. This bus connect you with cultural public institution. You can also get the「Child History Couture Hall」on this bus. This bus basically allows everyone to ride on for free. So it is the best way for the tourist who want to get the library.

Aozorakun

「Aozorakun」is the loop bus that connect Echizen Tetsudo Echizen Shinpo station with Shinpo・Owada destrict. It is operated by Echizen Tetsudo. This bus doesn’t go to any famous sightseeing spots but there are some stops easily access to huge supermarkets and hotels with affordable price. It is good to use the base of sightseeing. You need the one-day ticket to get on this bus that could be purchased at Echizen Shinpo Station. It runs only in day-time on weekdays, and 1 bus every an hour on weekends. So you need to check the operation time when you use this bus.
