Izakaya “Azumaya” is located near “Tawara-machi” Station of Tokyo Metro” Ginza” Line. It is an old fashioned Izakaya popular among local people. A cheerful owner runs the place alone. It has many varieties of menu such as “Sashimi”, Asakusa croquette, “Oden” (boiled vegetables in soup), lightly pickled turnip, “Arani” (boiled bones of fish), etc. Fresh fish is dispatched from Sado Island and Kagawa Prefecture. Its “Sashimi” served a lot is excellent and would cost you Yen1,200 only. The prices are not expensive yet very delicious. Furthermore it offers many famous local “Sakes” such as “Kaze-no-mori”, “Dassai”, “Mutsu Hassen”, “Hiroki”, “Gassan”, “Hana Abi”, Okuno-kami”, etc. for just Yen600 a cup. For “Sake” lovers it is a must-go Izakaya. It is open as early as 03:00p.m. If you are not patient, start bar-hopping from here.

Since Izakaya “Azuma-ya” moved to the current location recently from another place in Asakusa, the restaurant is in a new and clean building. The cheerful owner makes excellent “Oden” which is second to none. It makes a good side dish and goes very well with the “Sake”. Believe it or not, each “Oden” would cost you just Yen100. Let’s enjoy it!

Recommended Menu 2: Asakusa Croquette

One of its specialties is Asakusa croquette. It is made with minced meat and potato. The uniqueness of this croquette is that it does not have a crispy skin, because usual croquette is crunchy outside. It is good for a quick bite and goes well with “Sake” as well.
